Cantor I: O My people, what have I done unto thee, or wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against Me. Pastor: I did smite the kings of the Canaanites for thy sake: and thou hast smitten My head with a reed. Cantor I: O My people, what have I done unto thee, or wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against Me. Pastor: I did give thee a royal sceptre: and thou hast given unto My head a crown of thorns. Cantor I: O My people, what have I done unto thee, or wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against Me. Pastor: I did raise thee on high with great power: and thou hast hanged Me upon the gibbet of the Cross. Cantor I: O My people, what have I done unto thee, or wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against Me. PART III Pastor: We venerate Thy Cross, O Lord: and praise and glorify Thy holy Resurrection: for by virtue of the Cross joy has come to the whole world. God be merciful unto us and bless us. Cantor I: And shew us the light of His countenance, and be merciful unto us. Pastor: We venerate Thy Cross, O Lord: and praise and glorify Thy holy Resurrection: for by virtue of the Cross joy has come to the whole world. I still remember the first time I heard the Reproaches - more than 25 years ago.
I was studying 16th century counterpoint in college, and the prof played a DG Archiv recording of them. I can still hear them, I can still remember the room, everything.
I'm not sure anything else in my life has impressed itself on me so deeply. -

The Reproaches have been recorded by the Choir of St John's, Elora, Ontario, Canada on a CD called "Psalms for the Soul." It is the CD I listen to the most. Go to www.hnh.com, do the free registration, type in catalog # 8.554823, listen to 25% of the piece. You can then order it from Amazon. Beautiful!

Do they sing them in English or Latin?

They're sung in English, to a wonderful setting by John Sanders ("written [in the 20th century] when he was organist of Gloucester Cathedral").
I agree with Kathy, this is a great CD ... and the price is right being that it's from Naxos.
